The auction for Taylor Rapp’s Year of the Ox Collection has come and gone and we were left with a unique outcome as far as NFL themed NFTs go. With the drops done by Gronk and Mahomes, auctioneers were caught up in savage bidding battles with one another, driving prices sky high and delaying auction end times until there was only one person left standing (or likely sitting, but that imagery is far less climactic). In what is a first, these tokens did not move at exorbitant prices based on the mere fact of being an NFT. Some of these offerings did not sell at auction at all, proving that it may take a bit more of recognition to push bidders to manic lengths in hopes of securing one of the digital collectibles. Not all is lost, however. Rapp is offering the leftover tokens for sale utilizing a “Buy Now” feature available on Opensea’s platform. Do not hesitate to move into ownership of what will be one of the original NFL NFTs issued prior to the actual NFL and NFLPA getting involved on an institutional level. Besides, as we have mentioned before, all proceeds are ultimately going to a great cause in going towards the #StopAsianHate movement. We only see positives in the opportunity to acquire one of these souvenirs without the competition of an auction.
