And Now A Peek At The Terrell Owens x Spacecoupe Trading Cards

On a previous post, we examined what offerings Terrell Owens had in store for us as part of his NFT Museum & Gallery. Now, we are taking look at the the second collection simultaneously released by the legendary wideout and his team. That collection is the Terrell Owens x Spacecoupe Trading Cards, an NFT collection released representing Owens along each stop of his storied career. This is ranging the entire timeline of Owens’ football life, so let’s dive right in! In chronological order of his career:

Chattanooga Edition

Starting with the heavy hitter in the collection here, and it’s a doozy. Can you believe the legend of Terrell Owens began at the University of Chattanooga? Their team name is the Mocs, in case you were wondering. Incredible that one of the greatest football players of all time has such an origin story. Clearly Owens finds this humble beginning special. He pays homage to his beginning by creating this NFT card, and making it the most rare of the whole collection. A true 1/1, this collectible features Owens in his college days, reaching high up for a pass, and even higher still towards true super stardom. Bonus points if you know who the starting QB was for the Chattanooga Mocs. Lucky was he who got to throw passes to a budding Hall of Famer. The bottom left hand corner features the mark of the artist responsible for this whole collection, Spacecoupe, as does the entirety of the collection.

San Francisco Edition

Where Owens’ career really took off was in San Francisco, having spent the majority of his career there. This part of the wideout’s journey yielded not only some of his most iconic moments throughout the entirety of his career, but some of the most important moments in the story of the National Football League. Maybe I am waxing poetic about moments deeply ingrained into my childhood memory, having watched the events of Owens’ career unfold before me as kid, but when a specific play continues to be referred to by a nickname for the rest of time, you know it was significant. Owens was the receiving pass catcher in “The Catch 2”, sending the 49ers to the Divisional Round following a victory over the Green Bay Packers. In the NFT itself, we see another iconic moment from Owens, albeit, for different reasons. Who could forget Terrell Owens posing in the center of Dallas’ star logo, celebrating after scoring a touchdown on the Cowboys. What was Owens, if not a star himself? 81 of these were minted and came with a physical custom hoodie with the NFT on it’s front, so you could show off your star power while you’re out and about.

Philadelphia Edition

After T.O.’s time in San Francisco, he went on to play in Philadelphia. At the time, the Eagles, led by Head Coach Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb at QB, could not get over the hump. They thought bringing in a player of Owens caliber may just be exactly what they needed to get to the big game, and they were right. The Eagles would go on to advance to Super Bowl XXXIX, where they would eventually fall to the New England Patriots. Owens remained a top tier football player, having made the Pro Bowl with the team in 2004. This item shows us the speedy receiver looking to run with ball in hand. Worth noting is the depiction of the silhouette of each city in the top right corner of each edition of these NFTs, this one featuring Philly itself.

Dallas Edition

We finally arrive at the Dallas Edition of the Spacecoupe collection, commemorating Owens’ time spent in the Lone Star State. Joining his 3rd team in the NFL, T.O. was still a great WR, joining forces with Tony Romo to form what was a lethal offense. His stint in Dallas even yielded another visit to the Pro Bowl, but also gave us so much more. As a Cowboy, Owens was at his peak quote machine, delivering what may be his most famous taglines in “Getcha popcorn ready” and “That’s my Quarterback”. Absolute classics. Though this version of the Cowboys was really good, including Owens breaking some team records, they never could get over the hump to make a Super Bowl.

Buffalo Edition

Here we have the Buffalo Edition, marking what would be the beginning of the end for T.O.’s time as an elite NFL player. He remained talented but found himself on a Buffalo team that was not much of a contender. In his one year spent here, Owens marked two interesting notes in his career: A) his consecutive game streak with a reception was finally ended at 185 straight games and B) Owens actually had the longest reception of his entire career, a 98 yard TD catch from then Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Cincinnati Edition

Marking the end of Terrell Owens’ illustrious career is this Cincinnati Edition. Owens was still turning in some solid football, serving as the leading receiver on a Bengals team that featured some other talented wideouts and was already starting to have some success. T.O. was place on IR towards the end of the season. Too bad because he likely would have once again eclipsed the 1000 yard and 10 TD mark on the season. No matter how anyone may feel about T.O., there was simply no denying his greatness on the field. He was a true legend of the game and productive all the way to the end.

Custom Signed Football

A real 1/1, the only other 1/1 of the collection aside from the Chattanooga card. A simple custom trophy signed by T.O. to highlight his legendary Hall of Fame career. An interesting color gradient and frame surround the football itself. This bad boy sold for 1 WETH. Not too shabby!

Wine Edition

Finally, we get to the end of Terrell Owens’ NFL life, but transition smoothly into the beginning of his new life. Aside from producing NFT collections post-retirement from football, Owens has become a bit of a wino. Paying tribute to his wine brand, Eighty-One, this collection includes 3 tokens dedicated to his Cabernet Sauvignon. Pick up a bottle online if you would like to give it a try!
