What’s inside the Museum of Mahomes?

He is young and early in his career, but he is already wildly successful and absolute dynamite to watch. So much so, that his highlight reel is already sufficient enough to yield a Museum of Mahomes, and a collection of digital collectible NFTs. He has just about done it all already on the football field, and now his sights are set on making his mark in the web3 world. Made his mark he did. Let’s take a look inside the Museum of Mahomes:

Showtime

First up, we have SHOWTIME, welcoming us to the action-packed ride that is Mahomes and his endeavors. The collection features four open-edition NFTs, meaning that the purchasing window was open for a set amount of time, set at a certain price, and the ability to mint tokens during this window was essentially unlimited. That window was only 15 minutes long, and the price set for this piece was $2,500 each. 256 editions were minted and sold during this drop, resulting in $640,000 for the lot. The artwork itself, as you will see is consistent with most of the collection, features Mahomes in side profile as the subject in a large, ornate picture frame. The image is digitally signed, of course, and the bottom title card provides us a blurb with a heck of a Mahomes fact: Patrick Mahomes is the only Quarterback in history to throw for 5,000 yards in both the college game and the NFL. His greatness came early and often. I wonder if he should have made the price for this piece $5,000 to align with the yardage. A missed opportunity here team!

LIV Champion

Stepping up the second rung of the open edition ladder, we have here LIV Champion. This piece was created to commemorate Mahomes’ title run in 2019, culminating in winning Super Bowl LIV, where he was named Super Bowl MVP, making him the youngest player ever to win the honor. Again, the excellence came early and often. The artwork, as you will see is consistent with the previous work, and most of the collection in the Museum of Mahomes, is mimicking that of a painting on a wall, framed by a decorative border, and a pumped up Mahomes in full celebration. Being the silver tier of the open editions, the price ticked up to $5,000 and led to 91 tokens being minted.

2018 MVP

The gold tier presents us the gold standard, celebrating Mahomes’ MVP award in 2018. In what was the QB’s first season as a full-time starter, he managed to throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. I cannot express enough how remarkable that is, but I suppose I could buy one of these tokens to help try. This drop sold 56 uniques pieces priced at $7,500 each. The rich just keep getting richer! The artwork is gold on gold on gold, featuring a scrambling Mahomes.

The Sideways Spectacular

The platinum tier of the open editions gifts us with the Sideways Spectacular. This one isn’t meant to tout some of Mahomes stats or accolades. It is simply meant to highlight his natural greatness. There is no doubt that watching Patrick Mahomes play football is must-watch television. We simply have never seen this type of player before in NFL history. This NFT celebrates that with memorializing one of his most impressive plays made. Can you believe he made this play essentially flying sideways through the air? It is absolute madness what this guy is able to do. He was also able to sell 47 of these puppies at a price point of $10,000 each. Another solid haul for the Quarterback turned NFT creator.

The Crown

Heavy is the wallet that owns “The Crown”. Moving on from the open editions offered in the Museum of Mahomes, we now examine the more limited drop. Mahomes released two distinct artworks that totaled 50 units each. The first one is “The Crown”, featuring an ultra-bedazzled football helmet, adorned by an innumerable amount of jewels and accented by Mahomes’ jersey number, 15. Many of the units sold for $15,000 a piece but number 50/50 sold for $38,000 USD. Score one more for Mahomes.

Hail Mary

The second artwork offered in a closed edition of 50 units is the “Hail Mary”. This piece features a jewel encrusted football, similar to what we saw with “The Crown”, rotating 360 degrees in place, so all can take in its marvel. A pretty sleek design that presents little else than Patrick Mahomes’ signature laid out across the length of the football. Again, a lot of these pieces were sold for $15,000 each, but the 50/50 edition moved for double the price at $30,000 USD.

Mahomes Magic

The final piece, tying together the entire Museum of Mahomes, we have “Mahomes Magic”. This is the ultimate prize in the entire collection. The artwork shows us the silhouette of Mahomes, with his back to us, number 15 shining brightly, standing in the gallery of the Museum, gazing up at a framed image of the QB making his signature side-arm no-look pass. Behind this scene, we see all of the previous works decorating the walls of the gallery. In short, owning this piece is owning the entire Museum of Mahomes. This must be why this true collector’s item was made as a 1/1 singular piece. This one piece sold for a whopping $246,488.49 USD. At nearly a quarter of a million dollars, this NFT is among the most valuable collectibles on the sport token market. That, is spinning the Mahomes Magic.

In total, the Museum of Mahomes NFT drop grossed over $3.6 million. Not bad for a guy that just signed a contract valued at $450 million. It must be nice to be Patrick Mahomes. I encourage you to check out the drop and its different pieces for yourself at Makersplace.com.
