It’s INCREDELMAN!!! Inside the comic-book inspired NFT collection from Julian Edelman

It’s time to sport your superhero capes and prepare to dive into the adventures of INCREDELMAN, the comic book hero version of classic New England Patriots wideout, Julian Edelman. Edelman, freshly retired from the NFL, has quickly jumped into new pursuits, NFT creator being one of them. The former player has created two separate collections of NFTs, and today, we will look at what he has to offer in his INCREDELMAN series. The collectibles are comic book themed commemorations of Edelman’s Super Bowl successes. The digital items include three distinct artworks, one for each championship, represented by a series of 30 tokens, and a 1/1 ultra-collectible special edition of each version. Let’s take a look at what’s inside:

Julian Edelman INCREDELMAN “YALLA EDITION”

Volume 1 of the INCREDELMAN collection celebrates Edelman’s first championship in Super Bowl XLIX. The standard series contains 30 editions that were held for auction. The only difference in artwork is the edition number in the top left hand corner, depicting exactly which one you own. The token above is the “Yalla Edition”, a 1/1 making it the most rare of the bunch. This edition sold for 1.1 WETH, placing the price tag somewhere a bit under $2,000 USD. As for the artwork, all of the items in the collection essentially replicate a classic comic book cover. Volume 1 pays ode to a few things near and dear to Julian Edelman, including his first trophy, and his Jewish background. We have the small but mighty Edelman center of the frame, wearing a shining star of David around his neck, spiking a football and shouting “YALLA!”. The turf and immediate scenery is warped all very super-saiyin-y. We then have the Volume box on the bottom left hand corner, titling it as “A Super Showdown Vs. The Legion of Boom”. That is just clever as hell. Yalla!!

Julian Edelman INCREDELMAN “COMEBACK EDITION”

Volume 2: “It’s gonna be a helluva story!”, the next issue in the exploits of Incredelman. There is actually a lot to like about this piece. Following the comic book theme, this one recreates the unforgettable catch Edelman made in Super Bowl LI, one of the most unforgettable plays in all of NFL history. It ultimately helped lead the Patriots back to beat the Falcons after being down 28-3 late in the 3rd quarter, an event so historic, I am certain we all remember where we were when we watched it. This is where the piece gets its name from, the “Comeback Edition”. The artworks pays every inch of homage to this outcome, highlighting the score at the time Edelman made the catch, shouting “I CAUGHT IT!”, on the ground surrounded by actuall “Falcons” players. I thought that was a nice touch. I have also been enjoying these speech bubbles. As far as auction went, we do have another 30 units of the Super Bowl LI edition, but the Comeback Edition pictured above sold for a solid 7 ETH (around $13,500). Certainly another great outcome for the small but mighty, Incredelman.

Julian Edelman INCREDELMAN “MVP EDITION”

The final chapter in the Incredelman series is Volume 3: Return to a dynasty. I guess he’s right, 3 rings does kinda make you a dynasty in the NFL. For everything the Super Bowl was against the Falcons, this one was not. Super Bowl LIII was a stinker of a game, where the Patriots defeated the L.A. Rams 13-3. Still a championship victory is a championship victory, and this one was particularly sweet for Julian Edelman, who earned MVP honors in this game. He was a catching machine, grabbing 10 receptions for 141 yards. This is the basis for our final token and its artwork. Dubbed the “MVP Edition”, this digital collectible presents us with a battle-scarred (Incred)Edelman standing triumphantly in victory, with ball in hand. We have another speech bubble with an emphatic “LET”S GOOO!”, but that’s just English for “Yalla”, so I will casually rib here for the repeat. Another 30 versions were made marked w/ Super Bowl LIII in the title, but the “MVP Edition” shown here sold at auction for 6 ETH, or around $11,500.

I recommend you jump into the action and check out the collectibles up for grabs over at opensea.io!
